“With CHF33 = a kid go happily to School”
In Chile, on february 27th, 2010, an Earthquake 8.8 on Richter Scale (ranked among the 5th greatest in the world) and Tsunami hit to 4 of the most populated regions of the country.
Constitucion is one of the most damaged cities by the strength of the Earthquake and Tsunami. It was destroyed in almost 80%, 432 dead ones, about 200 missing ones and most of the houses fully destroyed. The sources of employment are frozen, the fishing industry, piers, vessels, destroyed; Cellulose industry, facilities, saw mills, were severe damaged. Sales industry was affected by the lost of houses, offices and stores.
Campaign to Help: CERRO ALTO
The goal is to help the Cerro Alto School in Constitución: which is a primary and no admission charge School, has 1100 students from 5 to 13 years old, who come from families with a very low social-economical status. This school have also students with visual and hearing impairment and mental and corporal disability/handicap.
Why helping this School?
Because the primary needs (house and food) are already being provided by the Government, and there are projects and planning in short and long terms.
After the earthquake, 70% of the building was destroyed, all the teaching material and support learning equipment was damaged. Attending to regular classes was delayed for over 2 months and students will be distributed among other schools.
Without houses, suffering the lost of a loved one, with a city in ruins and their school destroyed, the future of these kids is in danger!
Our goal is to motivate these kids to come back to school, where they will be safe, loved and begin, although all the obstacles, to have a normal life back.
Every kid will get a full set of teaching/school materials (copybooks, pencils, drawing tools, etc) for an amount of CHF33. These sets will be also purchased in the region.
How do YOU help?
Giving money / make a deposit to the account Die Post 87-140089-2, under the name CERRO ALTO
Every amount of CHF15 will give you the chance to participate on a drawing/raffle. Any other amount under CHF15 will be welcome, but it will not be part of the drawing/raflle.
The prizes are gifts from companies like Warner Bros.(Switzerland), Marionnaud, Spar (Fällanden),. The drawing will be held on Saturday May 22nd, 2010. It will be supervised by representatives from the Companies which provided the prizes. The previous Saturday (May 15th), at Market Fällanden (next to the Gemeindehaus), there will be a Campaign Stand giving information and receiving donations.
The total amount of money will be send to Chile with a bank(wire) transfer and this operation will be supervised by the Executive from Die Post, Mrs. Monica Pfister.
